The Crossfit Open season is upon us again! But wait, did’t we already do the whole CrossFit Open already this year?
If you’re asking yourself this question, don’t feel awkward, we are all saying the same thing! In fact, you’d be correct. We did host the CF Open back in February/March of this year. However, the CrossFit Games has shifted the Open season to start in October of every year going forward. So, this year, we get to compete in the Open twice!
If you’ve been around for a while, you probably understand what the CF Open is… If you’re brand new, and never done this before, all the talk of the CF Open can be scary and intimidating! But it doesn’t have to be… The CF Open is fun!
What exactly is the CF Open?
The CrossFit Games website touts the CF Open as “For everyone”. And they wouldn’t be lying. Basically the CF Open is how people qualify for a spot to go to the CrossFit Games. Everyone in the world can put in for the CF Open and have a chance to qualify for a spot in the Games.
Ok, ok, so what does this mean for us? Yes, only about 1% of people will actually move on to a spot at the Games. To compete in the CF Games you need to be elite in this sport… So then why do we do it? Well, it’s just for you. It is a great measuring stick to see where you are at physically. It’s only you vs you. It can also be a huge confidence booster as you will probably test yourself more than you ever thought was possible, and you’ll probably surprise yourself too!
This is a chance to “compete” in a friendly environment with other HPCF members and push yourself past your comfort zones.
Do I Need TO Officially Register?
No, you do not. If you want to pay the fee to officially register on the CF Games site then we strongly encourage this. However, you do not have to. Some people like to register so they can log a score, which updates yearly and tell you how you’ve improved from year to year. Others just want to do it and that’s enough. Regardless of what you decide, we just want you to have fun and be a part of the fun! REGISTER HERE
I’m Still Not Sure…
This is ok. We understand that you may still have some questions, and this entire thing may seem very intimidating… If you’re on the fence, then we encourage you to show up to a “Friday Night Lights” event just to watch and cheer on the people who plan to do it! You’ll be surprised as all of the energy int he building and it ill probably inspire you to do it the next week!
