The CrossFit Games
Wow, what an experience. Whether you’ve been doing CrossFit for a year or for a month, whether your goal is to compete or just get in shape, there is nothing more motivating than The CrossFit Games. If you aren’t familiar with the CrossFit Games, it is a 4 day tournament where one male and one female are crowned “the Fittest on Earth” – meaning the champion of the sport.
While these “Fittest on Earth” are awfully impressive in their own right, they are only a subset of the jaw dropping performances you’ll find at the CrossFit Games. If you truly want to be inspired, I’ll point you to the teenage divisions and masters divisions. The teenage division is broken into two subdivisions, 14-15 year olds and 16-17 year olds. Commonly referred to as the future of the sport, you wouldn’t believe what these teens are capable of. Gravity defying weightlifting and effortless gymnastics are commonplace.
On the opposite end of the spectrum are the masters divisions: 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+. Nothing will get you more motivated to get your butt off the couch than watching these men and women throw down. These individuals defy the limits that age oppose on them, making most able body twenty year olds aspire to be better. In today’s world of sedentariness and growing rates of obesity, these master’s athletes are proving that your pursuit of fitness doesn’t have to end in your twenties. Regardless of your age, never give up on your dreams. Just keep working.
Where ever you are in your fitness journey, and whatever your goals are, call on these incredible performances for motivation and inspiration. With the proper mindset, goals and work ethic, you can achieve whatever it is you desire. As we say, your fitness journey isn’t a quick trip. It’s a long, methodical adventure with ups and downs. Just keep your eye on the prize and keep working.
