If you’ve been with Harbor Park CrossFit for a while, you’ve probably heard of something called “Test Week”… Or, maybe you’ve seen the “Levels” boards in each gym lounge with a bunch of athlete’s names on them and a score..?
So what exactly is test week and why do we do it? Test week is something we came up with you help athletes in the gym see their progress and improvements while making it fun to earn points for each workout. In CrossFit, we like to say there are 10 general physical skills; Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, & Accuracy. Which test week is aimed at testing each of these area.
Test week is important because our goal is to actually test you on these skills so you can see your improvements. The scoring system, is pretty much just for fun to keep people engaged and to give everyone a goal to shoot towards.
At the end, everyone earns a “Level” with a cool nautical themed title! 🙂
