October 2017 Member of the Month – Danielle Clark

Each month we like to recognize one of our amazing members and put them into the spotlight for all of their amazing accomplishments. This month, we chose Danielle Clark! She’s been with us for a few short months and she has been kicking butt since day 1.

Danielle has a fun, energetic attitude, and is ALWAYS there to help any member.

Now, it’s time to learn a little bit about Danielle:

Hometown: Olivet, Michigan

 

Occupation: Full-time student

 

Favorite WOD/Metcon: Fight Gone Bad, it has little bit of everything 🙂

 

Favorite Lift: Back squat 

 

Favorite Cheat Meal: Cupcakes 🙂

 

Athletic Background: Minimal. Being “fit” never seemed achievable to someone like me.  But Ultimate Frisbee counts, right?

 

Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: Musician/ Baker

 

How long have you been CrossFitting?: 5 months

 

How long have you be a Harbor Park CrossFit Member? 3.5 months

How did you find CrossFit?

 

By accident, really. I saw a Facebook ad one night while scrolling. At that time in my life I knew I needed to change for my health.

 

How has CrossFit changed your Life?

Crossfit has been an eye-opening experience. It has shown me what I’m capable of. I am more confident in my day to day life and I keep accepting new challenges because now I just want to know if I can do it.

 

What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?

 

Finally getting a handstand! Also, completing my first Full Tough Mudder in September. We had 9 people on our CrossFit team and I was incredibly inspired by how everyone came together to complete the course. It was Challenge I wouldn’t have otherwise thought of doing.

 

My next big goal? Top 3: Run a half marathon, handstand push-ups, and deadlifting heavier than my bodyweight.

 

What is your favorite thing about Harbor Park CrossFit?

 

This one is easy: The community. I’ve never so much apart of a local community as I do here. I didn’t just gain some new workout buddies, I gained a family. We encourage each other, we push each other and we catch each other when we fall. Harbor Park has created community to be proud of!

 

Have any advice for new members?

The first step is coming in and asking questions. Take a trial class or sign up for one of our challenges. There are people of all skill levels in this community and we will all help each other. Take a chance and see what CrossFit can do for you!
