Each month we like to recognize 1 member of either gym who stands out among the rest of the crowd. Each of the members we choose to highlight hold true to Harbor Park’s Core Values, which are: “Happy. Healthy. Community.”
Each one of these values stands for the following:
Healthy: Healthy stands for what we do in the gym. We improve people’s health & wellness and we increase their longevity.
Happy: Happy stands for how we conduct our business. We promote a positive and empowering environment for our members and staff to thrive in.
Community: Community is what we do it for. We are cultivating a community of people dedicated to improving their health and wellness and a community where everyone feels welcome and has a sense of belonging.
With all that being said, it would be hard not to agree with our recommendation to put Lynn Paulke in the spotlight this month! Lynn has been with HPCF going on 2 years at the end of August. We’ve had the pleasure of coaching her and helping her through her fitness journey. Although she wont talk about it too much, Lynn has seen some really amazing transformations during her 2-year tenure with us. Her results, along with her “never give up” attitude is what gives us coaches and other members inspiration. Lynn proves to us daily that age is just a number, and you can still do anything you set your mind and body to.
Lynn has been recently added to the HPCF Ambassador crew to mentor new members as they start.
Keep it up Lynn and thank you for ALL that you do!
Keep your eyes and ears open for our August 30th release of the Anchored Podcast! We will be interviewing Lynn on the show!
Now, let’s learn more about Lynn:
NAME: Lynn Paulke
Age (if you want to provide): As my husband always say, ‘you’re twenty years older the rest of them’. (His response when I tell him how I came in ‘last’, again.)
Hometown: Markesan, WI. No one knows where that it but everyone knows either Ripon or Waupun and it’s right in between them.
Occupation: Demand Planning Manager
Favorite WOD/Metcon: Barbara or anything with handstands
Favorite Lift: Back Squat
Favorite Cheat Meal: Cheese Curds and Mike’s Lemonade, stay classy!
Athletic Background: Dance, Gymnastics, Volleyball … does Pom Poms count?
Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: Reading (come join our Harbor Park bookclub ya’ll), Card Making, Bowling, Shooting pool, Cheese Curds. Will start indoor rock climbing when we get a good place that’s not an hour away.
Why did you start?: The weight was just too uncomfortable!
Why do you keep coming back?: It works! Fitness along with a revamped nutrition regimen is giving me the results I needed. My goal is physical independence as long as possible.
How long have you been a member of Harbor Park CrossFit?: Two years as of this Labor Day weekend.
How did you find CrossFit?: A friend at work wanted me to join with her. We work in Illinois and couldn’t find one close that would fit both our schedules. My husband was willing to go with me because he knew I needed to start doing something. We joined the old Racine gym. I felt comfortable because there were folks there at all skill levels.
How has CrossFit changed your Life?: I think it has really ‘de-stressed’ my life. If I’ve had a bad day at work I come here and have to actually think about the WOD I’m doing and interact with the other members. You’re not just running on a treadmill rehashing your day in your mind.
What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?: Running the 1.5 miles for the July 4 WOD. Not a runner! Handstand walk still eludes me but I know I will get it soon.
What is your favorite thing about Harbor Park CrossFit?: Right away it was the coaches. They are always nice, happy, knowledgeable and helpful. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
Have any advice for new members or people who may not have started yet?: Just keep coming, you actually improve upon your skills and that’s fun. Do it safely, just work out to your level;. No one is watching you, they are too busy improving upon their own goals
